Yellow Dog Music

KEY FACTS & POLICIES

**PLEASE INFORM THE YELLOW DOG DIRECTOR  IF YOUR CHILD HAS NUT ALLERGIES.  **

Arriving/Leaving the Studio: PLEASE arrive  a few minutes prior to lesson time. Guitar students should tune their guitars while they wait for lessons. Family members/caregivers are welcome to wait in the reception room. Parents are welcome to discuss their child’s progress with the teacher during the first or last 5 or 10 minutes of their child’s lesson.

At Home: Practice and Instruments | All school-age students are encouraged to develop a solid homework practice routine.  That routine will help students progress at a satisfying pace, and discover that making music is ‘rocket fuel’ for the heart, brain and soul.  For advice on supporting child with homework, please see our staff’s ‘practise advice binder’ in the reception room, speak to your child’s teacher, or make an appointment to chat with Yellow Dog’s Director.

Materials: Students are responsible for purchasing music books assigned by their teacher.  Yellow Dog will provide manuscript, tab paper, ‘loaner’ guitar picks, special papers/art utensils, photocopies, etc.  *Young students need to bring their practise journal, which records lesson progress and daily practice instructions, to every lesson.

Calendar and Payment Schedule: Yellow Dog’s tuition schedule follows a calendar of sessions that run 2 -3 months at a time, or full school-year fees can be paid in advance.   The studio closes Thanksgiving, Christmas/New Year’s Day, Family Day, March Break, Easter and Victoria Day.

Payment Methods:  E-Transfers, cheques or cash only.   We regret that we are not able to process credit or debit payments.

Missed Lessons: Please notify the studio ASAP re lesson cancellations. Make-up lessons are offered September – June.  Book a make-up at our Make-ups page.  Please pick a day/time that works for you, then email or call the studio to book: 416-696-1226

UNIQUE TO YELLOW DOG MUSIC:  Make-ups can be booked for any day/time or instrument. It can be used by ANYONE, such as a grandparent, for any instrument in the student’s family.

Parent Participation:  Parents of young students are encouraged to be supportive and active participants in practice at home.  Support might mean ensuring instruments are always within reach/plain sight; having music playing in the home/car routinely; taking children to live concerts; setting up an itunes account and/or playlist, and making both easily accessible to their children.  Parents are also encouraged to attend and quietly observe lessons once or twice a year.
